Read Black social justice movement poetry and explore how they use the written word in the service of freedom, then express your own desires for freedom on the page.
In this gathering, hosted by Eastern Michigan University professor Dr. Toni Pressley-Sanon, we will read Black social justice movement poetry from the distant past to the contemporary moment. Our exploration of the written word in the service of freedom will involve reading others' writings before seeing what it's like to feel the words in our bodies. Finally, we'll use the energy we generate to express our own desires for freedom on the page. Get ready for a morning of exploration, embodiment, and creating possibilities.
We'll send you the Zoom meeting information a few days before the event.
