Hear a book and get inspired! Students will experience the joy of story-creating however they are able, from writing to conversation-based brainstorming and development of new ideas.
Each week we read a book aloud and pay attention to one special thing the writer does (like using rhyme to impact the reader, or how the writer shows a character’s feelings). Then, we work on activities inspired by that idea. Students brainstorm with volunteers and then do independent writing in whatever form and subject they choose! Students are encouraged to experience the joy of story-creating however they are able, from the physical act to conversation-based brainstorming and developing new ideas.
Families will be asked to fill out a registration form on their student's first day. This form can be completed in advance on 826michigan's website. We'll have paper copies at the program too. This is a drop-in program–join us when you can!
Our largest branch on Whittaker Road, near the roundabout, has 6 meeting rooms, including our large Community Room.
