A hybrid event, we will screen and discuss a presentation by authors Kirsten Mullen and William A. Darity, on reparations. Local storyteller and peace activist La'Ron Williams will lead discussion.
This series screens recordings that provide the needed opportunity to safely engage and understand the ways racism has functioned historically and continues to impact the present. This month we will watch a presentation, Forty Acres in the Twenty-First Century: Black Reparations Today, by Kirsten Mullen and William A Darrity, authors of From Here to Equality: Reparations for Black Americans in the Twenty-First Century. This video is provided by the National Humanities Center Education Program.
After the viewing, La’Ron Williams, local storyteller and peace activist, will facilitate an open, honest discussion about race and racism.
