Learn how to dig up and store common flowers such as cannas, dahlias and begonias before wintertime so you can plant them again to bloom next summer.
A geophyte is a plant that typically starts as an underground bulb. Some examples of tender geophytes are caladiums, cannas, dahlias, elephant ears, gladiolas, and tuberous begonias. All of these plants are lovely but cannot survive winter conditions here. They need to be dug up and stored if you want to have them blooming next summer. Come learn from Advanced Master Gardener Carol Brodbeck when and how to dig them up and how to store them for winter.
